We target management consultants, marketing strategists, financial analysts, and other highly skilled professionals. We look for a strong professional and/or academic trajectory of achievement. We look for professional, completed linkedin profiles with recommendations. In some cases, we perform a thorough reference check (and even background checks for certain full-time positions if requested by the employers. Consultants are informed, and consent requested before performing these checks). Take a look at our current expert profiles, and you will get a great idea of the high caliber of individuals that are currently within our site.
Many of our SkillQuo Consultants are already employed, working for themselves, or recently separated from traditional consulting firms such as a Bain, McKinsey, Deloitte, etc. For your sake, you should ensure that your current company would have no issues – legal or otherwise – with your working at SkillQuo.
We have projects that are a few weeks in length to a few months, projects which take up as little as a few hours a week to projects that are 20+ hours a week. Market Research and Analysis. First of all, we would refrain from the use of word ‘bidding’ which means, lower bid wins. We truly believe that quality comes at a price, and it’s not the bid, but the value of the consultant’s experience that is critical to the success of the project (and in turn SkillQuo). We do not restrict consultants from putting estimates higher than the client budget, rather we highly recommend that you place your estimates based on your hourly rates and the expected project duration (hours required). We do have a minimum rate/hour requirement ($70/hr) and minimum project budget ($250 minimum).
When clients post a project on SkillQuo, with a detailed description, timeline, budget and desired consultant qualifications, SkillQuo consultants will be able to browse for active project postings and provide estimates on projects which are suited to their expertise and experience level. Also, we have a matching algorithm that connects and recommends consultants and clients.
This varies by client and their level of urgency. Our SkillQuo team is automatically flagged for prolonged open postings, and we will diligently aid our clients to either make a selection or close out their project after an appropriate period of time.
Our SkillQuo team is well equipped to help mediate any issues which may arise. However, we ask our consultants to diligently vet out their potential clients and projects in terms of expectations, delivery timing, and budget. We also encourage our consultants to communicate when there seems to be a change in scope mid-way of the projects, so that either the project scope stays within the original request OR budgets and timelines can be adjusted accordingly to accommodate new changes.
One of our key target segment is Boutique consulting firms, and we support them in staff augmentation and full-time hires. Whether you are a solo consultant or a consulting firm, we welcome you to the SkillQuo family – we do require an individual from your firm to signup as a representative, and complete their profile on SkillQuo (do mention about the size of your team and your areas of expertise, so we can assign the right projects to you).
When a client hires a consultant, SkillQuo immediately collects the entire fee and holds it in escrow. This protects the consultant, as it ensures that they will be paid upon completion of the project. Depending on what the client and the consultant agree, the consultant will either be paid in one lump sum upon completion or in increments depending on milestones completed for longer term projects. For this, SkillQuo offers a convenient milestone tracking feature. This fees of 20% is deducted from the payment made to the Consultant. For example, if the project payment is $1000, SkillQuo retains $200 and Consultant gets paid $800 at the successful completion of the project.
